Hi Peter,

Thanks for the info. I tried it but it stopped at a libtool call:

libtool --mode=link g++ -Wall -g -O2 -pipe -m64 -fstack-protector -O2 -g -Wall -pipe -m64 -Wextra -fstack-protector -Wwrite-strings -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes -Wmissing-declarations -Wredundant-decls -Wbad-function-cast -Wcast-align -Wno-cast-qual -Wdeclaration-after-statement -Wdisabled-optimization -Wformat -Winit-self -Winline -Wmissing-field-initializers -Wmissing-format-attribute -Wmissing-noreturn -Wpointer-arith -Wno-sign-compare -Wunused -Wshadow -Wunreachable-code -fstack-protector -O2 -g -Wall -pipe -m64 -Wextra -fstack-protector -Wwrite-strings -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes -Wmissing-declarations -Wredundant-decls -Wbad-function-cast -Wcast-align -Wno-cast-qual -Wdeclaration-after-statement -Wdisabled-optimization -Wformat -Winit-self -Winline -Wmissing-field-initializers -Wmissing-format-attribute -Wmissing-noreturn -Wpointer-arith -Wno-sign-compare -Wunused -Wshadow -Wunreachable-code -Os  -fno-common -Wall -g -O2 -pipe -m64  tkAppInit.o initFortran.o libgaia4.4.1.dylib \

maybe I have the wrong libtool??

[caa@kree ~/gaia-4.4-1]% which libtool
/usr/bin/libtool

[caa@kree ~/gaia-4.4-1]% libtool -V
Apple Computer, Inc. version cctools-773

Also, it seems to be referring to /Users/timj in the libtool call.
