This reminds me of a graffiti group (whose collective name I don't
remember) which ran a campaign of modifying billboard advertisements in
north London some years ago (probably mid-90s, I think the police
cracked down on them eventually). Their interventions were very smart -
does anyone have photos?
(Trouble with these interventions is that consumers nowadays are such
masters of 'post-modern irony' they will just shrug and keep on
reading/buying the same stuff - but I applaud the effort.)
