I've received a request for help from a colleague in the Ukraine who is
researching the problems of the modern Ukrainian coal industry.
He's also interested in the reforms made to the British coal industry in
the twentieth century, but he's having trouble finding any literature on
the subject in his own language. He'd like to know if anyone can
recommend any literature in English and in particular any scientific
works or online material.
I'm recommending that he looks at Supple and Ashworth's volumes of the
official history, but can anyone else recommend anything useful? I'm
also going to recommend that he joins this list, but in the meantime
I'll pass any messages on.
By the way, did I imagine it, or is Chris Wrigley working on a sixth
volume of the official history, covering the strike and its aftermath?
