Hello everyone,
Eastbourne has a large number of language schools and every summer groups of language students come to make use of the free library computers to stay in touch with family and friends back home.
This can cause some tension with resident library customers, which has an underlying racial element, as the queues to use the computers increase. Additionally staff are stretched with the extra demand.
Does anyone in a similar situation have any tips for managing this sensitive area?
We are in communication with the language schools about what we can offer their students and have produced library PN information in a range of languages to hand out. Also we limit the time staff spend on the PN desk and have introduced 30 minute PN sessions for customers.
Any other advice much appreciated! I will summarise for the list.
Best wishes,
