>On 3rd August ALISS (Association of Librarians and Information Professionals in the Social Sciences) will be holding a one day conference on innovations in accessing social policy information and new ways in supporting researchers in this subject area . It will include presentations from ongoing projects and practical tips from practitioners. The 6 speakers will  include:
>
>*	Jude England, Head of Social Science Collections and Research, British Library 
>	Who will discuss the future development of British social policy following the recent general election.
>
>
>*	The changing nature of scholarly communication. What does this mean for researchers?  
>	Branwen Hide,  Liaison and Partnership Officer at the (Research Information Network). The RIN is a small policy unit funded by the UK higher education councils, the seven research councils and the three national libraries which has been involved in recent research on the impact of the Internet and collaborative working.
>
>*	Social Policy TV.
>	Staff from SCIE (Social Care Institute for Excellence) will discuss the rationale , development and practical aspects of creating this new  free online channel which uses innovative means to communicate with its audience.
>	Innovative 
>
>*	Communicating with researchers about Child protection information Library staff from the NSPCC will discuss how they help support researchers in locating and using materials relating to child welfare policy.
>
>*	Razia Shariff, Head, Knowledge Exchange Team
>	Third Sector Research Centre will discuss the current and future projects of the TSRC. 
>	The Third Sector Research Centre exists to develop the evidence base on, for and with the third sector in the UK. Working closely with practitioners, policy-makers and other academics, TSRC is undertaking and reviewing research, and making this research widely available.
>
>*	Mobile Phones and Libraries: experimenting with the technology
>	Kate Robinson: Head of Academic Services, University of Bath Library will discuss their recent initiatives  using QR (Quick Response) codes to support library users
>
>
>
>Cost: £75 ALISS Members, Non-Members £95. This will include a buffet lunch plus mid morning and afternoon tea/coffee.
>
