There's the temptation to insert (add? replace?) punctuation into the WCW
original.

Well, if you *really wanted to get up everyone's nose, you could refer to it
as "verkürzter Schnitt" or "sehr kurzer Schnitt", and wonder musingly why
the English and German signifiers are commutative while the French and
English ones aren't. (Depending on which source you consult -- the UNESCO
_Glossary of Terms Related to the Archiving of Audiovisual Materials_ seems
to imply just the opposite.)
That's assuming the signified is the same in all three cases.
