Are you being interactive as you could be in your sessions? If you think the answer is
‘yes’ then you may be in for a surprise.
Active learning is increasingly being used throughout education to engage students and
ensure that learning has occurred. Librarians from all sectors should embrace this method
of teaching in order to make our Information Literacy training as effective as possible.
This session is not designed to prescribe how you should deliver your training, but
instead is intended to present ideas that may prompt you to question how you teach.
Touching on a variety of learning theories this session will concentrate on applying these
practically into your training.
The aims of the session are to:
* recognise the importance of using a variety of interactive methods in teaching;
* utilise appropriate methods and technologies for a variety of teaching environments
and different library sectors;
* build upon and adapt existing sessions to include interactivity and active learning
within them;
This session will be fun, lively and interactive but most importantly it will furnish you
with ideas to take back to your work place to use in your training.
