**Apologies for Cross Posting**
UKSG is looking for volunteers to help produce Beginner's Guides for
newcomers to the information community. The first two guides are planned
to cover publishing and libraries and are intended to be short (2-3 x A4
pages) summaries of key areas, acronyms and places for further
information, and we are looking for one person to work on each.
Steve Sharp (incoming co-Editor of Serials) has written the Beginner's
Guide to the Library, and this needs a volunteer to review and edit, but
we really need a volunteer from a publishing house to write the second
one.
The resulting guides will be free and intended for handing out with
induction packs for new employees and available from our website, and
for students intending to work in libraries or a publishing house.
I hope this is of interest, and that there are some budding authors out
there! Please contact me off-list if you are interested so that I can
give you further information on topics, contents etc.
