I am looking into finding or forming a group to review climate education in
schools. In view of the zealotry which led to so many mistakes in recent
IPCC publications, the previous government's distribution of an emotive and
misleading DVD on climate, and to government advertising on climate
withdrawn after criticism about inaccuracy by the Advertising Standards
Authority, it is possible that serious errors and omissions with regard to
science and statistical methods have crept into materials used in our
schools. In particular, I am concerned about materials which seem intended
to frighten rather than inform, and ones which encourage deference to
authority rather than the proper use of the scientific method.
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who knows of such a group, or who would
be interested in helping get one underway.
