Gower Street, London, WC1E 6BT
Garwood Lecture Theatre, South Wing
(Details how to get there at the bottom of the page)
Pattern Completion brings together an artist, a sound designer and a
neuroscientist to create an installation exploring ways in which
networks of brain cells recall memories. The Pattern Completion
installation involves a constellation of hanging glass spheres (hung
to appear like the bodies of hippocampal cells) into which are
projected time-lapse sequences of film. The film projections shuffle
across the glass spheres according to the output from a neural
network, which mimics a theoretical process thought to underlie memory
recall.
