With apologies for cross-posting:
We will be running our ever-popular Basic Archive Skills Training
Day in central London on the 23rd June. It is intended for people
working with archives and records without formal recordkeeping
qualifications, and who feel that they would benefit from some
basic training in the principles of managing records and archives.
It is suitable for:
* Archives and records assistants
* Managers of archive staff
* Librarians and information managers responsible for archives and records
* IT professionals seeking an overview of the aims of archives and records management
* Anyone else who has responsibility for managing archives and records
The day consists of four core sessions focusing on the main areas
of preservation, collecting, appraisal and description differing in
length as appropriate. Sessions will include ample time for
questions and a high level of participation is encouraged.
A course handbook will be provided, which will contain:
* supporting notes for the sessions;
* a select bibliography;
* the BASTD glossary of archive and records management terms;
* useful contacts;
* info-bytes on related topics;
* participants list;
* information about other TASC training opportunities

On the 24th June we are delivering the Building Blocks of Records
Management. It is suitable for anyone setting up a records
management programme and for all staff working in records centres.
It also provides an effective “refresher” for archivists and
librarians who have not had recent hands-on experience.
Again, you can find full details and register at:

If you want to come to both days, there is a special discount rate,

Best wishes,
Margaret
