Subject: Call for HE Academy Development Funding proposals now open
Dear Colleagues,
The Higher Education Academy Subject Centre for Information and Computer Sciences (ICS) is pleased to announce the availability of Subject Development Fund grants of up to £3,500.
This scheme has been designed to:
- promote and disseminate effective teaching, learning and assessment activities;
- encourage development and exchange of innovative techniques;
- develop good practice in the evaluation of teaching methods;
- raise the profile of pedagogic research within the ICS disciplines.
Project should aim to bring into wider use exemplary techniques, methods or materials already developed and used successfully within local departments.
We particularly welcome submissions which address the Higher Education Academy's three main themes;
- Student Engagement;
- Enhancing Quality;
- Education for Sustainable Development.
Application for Funding
Proposals for funding should be made using the downloadable Application Form which is available in either (PDF or Doc) format from (http://www.ics.heacademy.ac.uk/projects/development-fund/general.php). Applications should be submitted electronically.
Funds will be allocated on the basis of a competitive bidding process. A Review Panel consisting of ICS Advisory Board members or other nominated persons together with Higher Education Academy staff will review applications. Each proposal will be assessed again a set of criteria by at least three members of the Review Panel plus one member of Higher Education Academy staff. Final decisions on projects to be funded will be made by a meeting of the full Review Panel. Unsuccessful projects will receive feedback as to why funding has not been allocated.
Eligibility
Proposals will only be accepted from members of UK HE institutions or FE institutions delivering HE programmes in ICS. Collaborative proposals involving more than one institution are actively encouraged.
Funding Available
In 2009-2010, £35,000 has been allocated to support small development projects within the ICS community. The maximum funding available for any single project will not exceed £3,500.
Bidding for funds - Key Dates: (NOTE These dates are different from previous tranches of the funding)
- Deadline for submission applications Wednesday 30th June 2010
- Notification of outcome Friday 20th August 2010
- Project start date Wednesday 1st September 2010
- Mid-term report Friday 31st December 2010
- Project completion date Friday 29th April 2011
