To whom it may concern;
The University of Birmingham main library is currently reviewing its key performance indicator system (KPI’s). It is our intention to amend the short loan shelving times from six hours to two hours and to implement a new KPI to ensure returned items are moved to subject areas within a set time. The university welcomes any information from all libraries regarding the implementation of the aforementioned changes, with particular interest from libraries of an equal overall turnover of 600,000 shelved per year and short loan discharge figures of 68,443 per year. Additionally, the university is interested in more specific details about other libraries short loan collections such as the amount of items, the number of staff shelving and access times. Any information or advice will be appreciated and gratefully received. Please note that the university will need to have a response by the 5th July 2010. Thank you.
Regards,
Naomi Whitehead and Warren Hitchmough
