ESRC COLLABORATIVE (CASE) PhD STUDENTSHIP (2010-2013) with NewcastleGateshead Initiative
Place branding for urban development? 'NewcastleGateshead' in comparative international context
Applications are invited for an ESRC Collaborative (CASE) PhD studentship under the supervision of Professor Andy Pike of the Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies (CURDS) and Dr Anoop Nayak of School of Geography, Politics and Sociology, Newcastle University, in collaboration with NewcastleGateshead Initiative (NGI is a partnership between Gateshead and Newcastle Councils and acts as the destination marketing agency for NewcastleGateshead). This research aims to understand and explain place branding and its relationships to urban development.
The studentship consists of an ESRC Maintenance Payment of £13,290 (minimum – 2010 rates to be announced), plus £2.5k from NGI for 3 years (plus home fees). Preference will be given to applicants who have an ESRC-recognised Research Training Masters level degree (+3 route) and/or relevant research experience and training.
