Following the successful workshops in London and Belfast earlier this
year the Society of Archivists are pleased to announce two more training
sessions on preservation to be held in Wolverhampton (14 June) and
Glasgow (15 October). More information is below. Places on the
Wolverhampton workshop are filling up so book soon to secure a place.
- Do you want to know how to organise a preservation survey?
- Are you worried that you have no coherent policy to ensure the
preservation of your collections?
- How far can archivists go in cleaning and flattening documents?
- What happens in a conservation studio?
- How can you protect your collections against disaster?
- What should your priorities be in ensuring the preservation of a
large mixed format collection?
This workshop will provide these answers and more! Led by experts from
the field of preservation and conservation policy and practice, the
workshop will cover:
● Preservation policies and surveys with Antony Oliver ,Sheffield
Archives
● Storage conditions, handling and searchroom practices with Mark
Allen, Flintshire Record Office
● Disaster Planning with Emma Dadson, Harwell Document Restoration
Services
● Sessions in the conservation studio and on basic preservation
techniques that archivists can perform
● Workshops on tackling preservation problems in mixed
collections
The costs for members: £45
non-members: £65
One bursary of £40 is available towards costs for the Glasgow
workshop.
