The joy of mixed teams.
I suggest a hybrid list is better. Treat it as an opportunity to review what you do. In many cases the retention will be a statutory one so where either of you differ from that, go for the statutory. In other cases you may be following guidance from either the LA or PCT, in that instance it's probably best to go for the longer one (although it I think I would advocate going for the shorter one and seeing if anyone screams). An integrated team still remains part of the LA and I suspect you will be joint Data Controllers, you may want to create a sub-category if items stored by the team are the same as elsewhere in the LA and you decide on a different retention period.
Storage is an interesting issue, you might want to take the opportunity to create joint storage as part of a "Oneplace" initiative. That should earn you a few "Brownie" points.

Subject: Integrated Teams and retention guidelines (the joys of joined up working)
Dear All,
The following scenario has emerged and I wanted some advice and or guidance on how to approach it. At the authority, we have a number of integrated teams wherein our officers work in a team with officers from the local PCT.
The question that has emerged is what retention guidelines are used. Do we use A or B, which ever is longer, or do we agree each retention guideline as a hybrid (AB)?
In some cases, the PCT retention guidelines are a lot longer than the Council's. In other cases, the Council has a longer retention period.
Is this something we should create a sub-category for in that the integrated teams need to be covered by special rules in that they fall between Local Authority and PCT?
How are other people approaching this type of situation? Also, where would you store the records? Do they go back to the Local Authority or the PCT?
Best,
Lawrence
