The Effect of Therapeutic Community on Time to First Re-Arrest: A Survival Analysis
Authors: Eric L. Jensen; Stephanie L. Kane

Abstract
This research examines the effect of therapeutic community (TC) on time to first re-arrest after release from prison. The comparison groups of primary interest in this research are male inmates assessed by corrections personnel as needing TC and who successfully completed the program, and inmates assessed as needing the program but who did not participate in or complete it. With relevant covariates controlled in the analysis, completing TC has a highly significant effect on delaying time to first re-arrest up to approximately two years after release from prison.
