Ann

Sorry. I was asked to circulate that notice by the Association of Therapeutic Communities (ATC) that was the only information they provided. You will find a bit more (but not much) on their website:

Apologies - this is late but I only received it today. ATC have assured
me that they will take late Abstracts from EFTC members.

Association of Therapeutic Communities

CALL FOR PAPERS for

Windsor Conference 2010

Cumberland Lodge, Windsor Great Park,

14-17 September

'Exploring the Therapeutic Relationship'

- in different settings

Therapeutic communities and therapeutic environments are developing
through a period of unprecedented change. However, the 'core
technology' or the 'agent of change' that is central to successful
outcomes for clients using these services is the provision of a range of
psychologically informed human relationships; these range from the
'dyadic' one-to-one, to the therapeutic group setting, both are often
present and interact with the healing ethos of the overall planned
environment in different settings.

We are calling for papers for the 2010 ATC Windsor Conference which give
expression to the human experience of delivering this range of
therapeutic interventions, and which will allow new perspectives,
techniques and theoretical underpinnings to be explored and discussed.

KEYNOTE PAPERS: these will be given priority, and must specifically
address and contribute to the main theme of the Conference. The timing
of these will be 30 or 45 minutes. The therapeutic relationship is
fundamental to treatment in any setting, with any client group. In
these papers we would welcome diverse and, where appropriate,
comparative presentations exploring the purpose, role and style of
therapeutic relationships, for example:

*	What essential difference does the TC environment make to the
essential core therapeutic relationship?
*	Therapeutic relationships as the agent of change
*	Building therapeutic relationships with those who fear or have
had no good experience of relationships
*	The role of one to one and other therapeutic interventions in
the therapeutic community and the electronic media's role in developing
and maintaining relationships
*	What are the specific needs of children: Nurture and
attachments - primary/core relationships with adults?

Fringe Papers: if time allows, a limited number of papers that do not
directly address the main theme may, at the organisers' discretion, be
given a secondary slot in the Conference programme. The timing of these
would be 15 or 30 minutes.

Additional Sessions: as well as formal papers, where time allows we
would encourage other creative, discursive or experiential sessions.
The timing of presentations could be 15, 30 or 45 minutes.

Poster Presentations: it may be possible to arrange a session for short
poster presentations.

Outline proposals for any of these sessions should be sent to the ATC
office as soon as possible and no later than 29 March.

IMPORTANT: At least one presenter of any paper must have booked for
the entire period 14 - 17 September. Co-presenters are welcome to
attend for the presentation, but unfortunately Cumberland Lodge will
charge for any wishing to have lunch (either before or after their
session). Arrangements for this must be made well in advance with the
ATC office.

Conference Large Group: We emphasise the importance of the creative,
discursive and experiential component that takes place in these sessions
providing a "Reflective Space", led by facilitators, which mirrors the
rich potential of the experiential learning intrinsic to the Large Group
of our Therapeutic Communities.

Day Event : The Association of Therapeutic Communities Windsor
Conference at Cumberland Lodge is, traditionally, a full time
residential event. However, this year, on one specific day the
Conference will be open to a limited number of participants for that day
only. Details of the day, programme and fees will be circulated in
April.

Please send your abstract or proposals for other sessions on the
attached sheet to the ATC Office as soon as possible. Deadline: 29
March 2010. Shortly after this date a selection committee will be
finalising the programme, and we are therefore unable to accept late
applications.
