Can I ask how long you keep pre application advice (in terms of planning application) for ? We have come across this files and unsure with its retention. When citizens go ahead with planning application submission, this file normally will merge into the main file. But my enquiry is specific to those that stay as pre-apps advice.
Some LAs keep them for 6 years and I can understand the reason since the service is chargable as commonly with many LAs, while here we still waive the charge. We tend to adopt the 6yrs for minor development in anticipation the Council will make it a chargable service in the future. There are also different types of advice for major development, significant infrastucture and listed buildings and most probably require longer retention.
