Job Title: Library Database Manager
Contract Type: Fixed-term to cover a maternity leave until 24 April 2011
Salary: Grade 7, £28,139 to £35,646 per annum

Key tasks:
- Play a key role in the library's resource discovery strategy by
improving discoverability throughout a diverse systems profile
which includes both Ex Libris and Talis platforms.
- Maintain and develop the library's online catalogue and the underlying
bibliographic database (approximately 1.6 million records), working
towards the introduction of a next generation catalogue.
- Support the Library's SFX link resolver, federated search service and
electronic resource management system by sourcing, integrating and linking to
relevant metadata.
Person specification:
- You will have a relevant professional qualification, e.g. degree in
Library/Information Studies, or relevant experience in an academic library.
- Knowledge of cataloguing in both UKMARC and MARC21, to AACR2 standards is
essential. This involves using Library of Congress name and subject authorities
and the Dewey Decimal Classification scheme.
- It is essential that you have excellent written and verbal communications
skills together with effective analytical and problem solving skills.
- You will have database management and system administration skills.
