That's an interesting and challenging statement. I wonder where it
comes from, what the evidence is. Could it not be but another form of
our own alienation to think this? So poetry is in fact limited to
upsurgence -- it can only be a solo voice in protest against a
collective? And actually, I do think that this is what a lot of
people in the poetry world here, perhaps a majority, (whether
mainstream or muddystream) believe, or act as if they believe.
"a fetishism of the quotidian"! Mr Side's aphorisms and coinages
really aught to be collected into a book. It would rival McGonagall.
