I certainly haven't heard of another case, and I am not surprised the DGC
did - they had the money!!! Dolcoath, with it's 'heavy' Holman 'connection'
(as also many other major Cornish mines), and therefore had a very useful
'supply' so to speak - Holman's - & of course others - being
firstly/primarily/originally for the supply of Cornish mines. It would however, be
interesting to know the origins and very beginnings of the foundry at Alston
(Cumbria). Maybe coal mines in various different areas might well have gathered
to form sources of castings, but this is well out of my area of knowledge.
