Hi Lesley

Just to add to what Mark says, all you need to do is contact ACS and ask
to be added to their publisher WAYF, which is here:
http://pubs.acs.org/action/ssostart, citing your entity ID which is
|https://idp.herts.ac.uk/shibboleth for the University of Hertfordshire.

ACS are wrong to have used the word 'shibboleth login' instead of the
recommend home institution / organisation as the word 'shibboleth' is
entirely misleading, and we have contacted them about this. Even if a
publisher drops the Athens login box from their site, athens users will
be able to access via the federated route.

I'm afraid we will see more and more publishers choosing to drop the
'Athens' link from their home pages due to the costs of maintaining
this, so it is essential that we hassle them to get their terminology
right!

Hope that helps

Nicole

I did question this as we are not currently using Shibboleth (and I know we aren't the only institution in this position) and was told that ACS wouldn't be implementing ATHENS as they saw this as becoming obsolete.
