Yesterday I took an action from the dteam+sites meeting to check on
the status of ARGUS - Ewan had noticed the apparent "silent" release
of version 1 in the latest gLite 3.2 release pages: http://glite.web.cern.ch/glite/packages/R3.2/sl5_x86_64/updates.asp
and http://glite.web.cern.ch/glite/packages/R3.2/. Oliver Keeble has
confirmed that "Yes, Argus has been released".
I know many suspected this would happen and I can not now see any
reason to push SCAS - since ARGUS replaces SCAS and is the longer-term
solution. There will be a discussion next week on the status of multi-
user pilot jobs during the GDB after which I will feedback any
revisions to the WLCG policy status.
Now that ARGUS is out it would be very useful to hear from any sites
that are in a position to deploy it within the next week(s). Having
SCAS (or ARGUS) will likely be required in the short-term so please
bear this in mind. From those who deployed SCAS the feedback was that
it was a simple deployment and there is no reason to think ARGUS will
be any different. There are indications that glexec usage is picking
up but the actual (formal) position of the experiments will need to be
confirmed next week.
