RMS
Conference
2009
21-23 March 2010 - Manchester Central Convention Complex
Sunday 21st March to Tuesday 23rd March 2010 will see the return
of the 13th Records Management Society Conference, ‘Springboard’
in Manchester.
We already have a huge amount of delegates signed up for this
year, so the event is promising to be as busy and bustling as
ever. With just over 1 week left until the Conference make sure
you book soon to guarantee your place on the event – this really
is the event no Information of Records Manager can afford to
miss! Click here to book now!
The programme
Click here to view our exciting line up of keynote speakers,
practical workshops and interactive sessions. The three keynote
speakers for this year's RMS Conference are:
Paul McGee
One of Europe's leading speakers on the subject of change,
workplace relationships and motivation. Paul's aim is simple: "I
want to help people achieve better results in life and have more
fun in the process". It is often said that the biggest challenge
for information managers is to make people change the way they
work. However motivation for it and self-belief can dip and we
may lose focus. Paul's presentation will centre on succeeding in
challenging and changing times and develop a resilient and more
positive attitude.
Dawn Monaghan
Senior Good Practice Manager at the Information Commissioner's
Office will address delegates on the new powers of the
Commissioner, coming into force on 6 April 2010 and designed to
deter serious breaches of the Data Protection Act and promote
compliance with it.
It is a timely presentation and the last opportunity before they
are implemented to hear from the ICO itself about how these
penalties will impact organisations. In the words of Information
Commissioner, Christopher Graham: “Getting data protection right
has never been more important than it is today”. Hear about it
now, to make sure your organisation is compliant and know what
the consequences if not.
Christopher Head
An independent consultant, specialising in public sector
strategic ICT. He will be speaking at the Conference in his
capacity as SOCITM Insights principal associate. Chris will
advocate the use of social media in the workplace, its benefits,
its risks and why organisations should look at it as a tool
rather than a threat. This fascinating topic will put the
spotlight on many aspects of social media and broaden the
argument about it. It is essential for any information
professional to understand and grasp the opportunities and the
risks of this media so as to better inform potential debates
about it in their own organisation.
Who Should Attend?
The RMS Conference is famed as a friendly and social gathering,
where debate and network opportunities abound. This year you can
look forward to an extensive programme, a bigger and more
innovative exhibition and a fun packed social programme.
The conference welcomes all those who work in or are concerned
with records or information management, regardless of their
professional or organisational status or qualifications.
Take the opportunity to share, collaborate, learn and inspire
with over 350 of the key players in the field of records
management. To keep up to date with the debates, trends,
techniques and developments, this conference is not to be
missed.
Manchester provided such a stunning setting for the 2006
conference we are delighted to be returning in 2010 with a
bigger and bolder conference, in the newly refurbished
Manchester Central Convention Complex.
