Postdoctoral Research Associate positions in theoretical chemical physics and materials science are available in the research groups of Professors Sewell and Thompson in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Missouri-Columbia. The research involves development of simulation methods and applications that collectively span the range from the atomic-level to the mesoscale. Required experience includes reactive force field development, theory of reactive materials chemistry (e.g., metal/metal oxide systems), or dissipative particle dynamics coarse-grain models. Candidates should have a good knowledge of condensed-phase electronic structure theory and applications, fundamental theoretical chemical dynamics, large-scale molecular dynamics or multiscale modeling methods, and polymers or polymer nanocomposites. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in chemistry, physics, mechanical engineering, materials science, or other closely related area. Applicants must have experience in programming and code development with FORTRAN, C, or other scientific languages. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Interested candidates should send (preferably via email) a CV, including a publication list and the names of references, to either Professor Thomas D. Sewell ([log in to unmask]; 573-882-7725) or Professor Donald L. Thompson ([log in to unmask]; 573-882-0051).
