I would certainly endorse the many of the points made by Richard and those
made in previous emails.
I predominately work with Moodle, but there were and still are issues of
encouraging teachers / lecturers and some learners to engage with this
particular VLE.
In my experience, the most successful VLE’s appear to be those which clearly
demonstrate to these groups the benefits and value to be gained; especially
around ‘engagement’ and ‘knowledge transfer’. How this is demonstrated
varies, e.g. Accessibility and widening participation to green issues with, with
everything in between.
I agree with Martin too. Just to add, that with Moodle, plug-ins which for
example, increase the reason for teachers to engage with the VLE are also
used, e.g. CPD etc.....
Finally, I think it is worth keeping mind, VLE’s suggest change. Now what do
the text books tell us about people and change!
All the best.
Allen.
