The English-Speaking Union (ESU) and CILIP invite applications – deadline
29th March - for the 2010 Travelling Librarian Award, from UK library and
information professionals who are personal members of CILIP.
The Award will be about £3000 to cover flights and some accommodation in
the US. The successful candidate will be free to put together their own
programme of visits (although help and advice will be available) and where
possible will be encouraged to take up home hospitality with ESU Members.
Normally the visits last about 2-3 weeks and take place during the autumn.
Last year’s winner was Peter Lund, Academic Services Manager (Science) at
Loughborough University. Peter visited 8 university libraries in New England
and North Carolina. He writes: “Having had such an exciting opportunity to
visit these leading academic libraries, I’m keen to disseminate outcomes as
widely as I can both within Loughborough University and externally. Thanks
for offering me this opportunity.”

drawn up. All candidates will be contacted shortly after the application
deadline and shortlisted candidates called to interview to discuss their
application further in person.
Interviews will take place in London on Thursday 22nd April 2010.
