Archives in Education and Learning is the theme of the next meeting of the
Society of Archivists Wales. Archivists (whether members of SOA Wales or
not) and others with an interest in the topic are most welcome to attend.
The meeting will be held at the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth, on
Monday 15 March.
We have put together what promises to be a thought-provoking programme, with
speakers representing the teaching profession, archives, and CyMAL. The
programme is as follows:
10.30-11.00 Arrival and coffee
11.00- 12.00 'Good History' and Thinking Skills: Curriculum Developments,
Current Practice and the role of archives at KS2 and KS3. Geraint Bevan,
History Advisor in Carmarthenshire Education and Community Services
Department, and secretary of the National Advisory Group for Humanities
12.00 - 12.30 Education and Learning - the work of CyMAL. Helen Lyall
Williams, Access and Learning Advisor at CyMAL
12.30-1.15 Lunch
1.15-1.45 Archives in education and learning: the Gwynedd Archives
experience. Dilwyn Williams and Gwenda Williams, Gwynedd Archives and
Museums Education Service
For SOA Wales members, the programme will be followed by the AGM and
business meeting.
Lunch is available at a cost of £6 per person.
All are welcome to attend! If you are planning on attending, please send

midday on Thursday the 11th of March at the latest, saying whether or not
you will require lunch (and if so whether you have any special requirements).
