We are seeking a highly motivated scholar, committed to excellence in=20
teaching and research, to join the Department of Film Studies. St=20
Andrews is one of the UK's leading centres for research in Film Studies,=20
receiving an outstanding result in the 2008 Research Assessment=20
Exercise. The Department, and its PhD programme, was founded in 2004. =20
A new undergraduate programme of joint degrees was successfully launched=20
in 2005, and a postgraduate M.Litt. in Film Studies in 2006.
This position contributes to the long-term growth of the Department, and=20
is created in the context of Professor Dina Iordanova's secondment as=20
Provost of the University.
You will be expected to take on a key role in this dynamic unit in=20
research, teaching and administration. You will have, or be nearing=20
completion of, a PhD in Film Studies (or a cognate discipline). Your=20
research is expected to contribute significantly to the Department's=20
strong research culture. We are open to applicants with expertise in=20
any area within the field, and would particularly welcome expertise in=20
transnational or world cinemas. Experience of teaching/supervision and=20
evidence of administrative competence are also essential attributes of=20
the position.
This lectureship will be available from 1 September 2010 or as soon as=20
possible thereafter.

The Research Preparation Masters awards are intended to support students =
