Great, like it very much
I had the same issue as James when logging in - random page asking me about my orders..
You could probably cut the cropping and sizing into one move by having a simple javascript cropper rather than a limited range of images. I know this'll potentially make the back end process harder, but you might get better results:
See for example http://www.defusion.org.uk/demos/060519/cropper.php
Be nice to take Frankie's idea and build in some gameplay somehow - either some kind of competition leaderboard "Top Croppers" (or worse - SORRY - "Top of the Crops" _shoot me now_) - something like that.

Subject: Re: V&A Crowdsourcing
Hi Gail
Looks like a great project. 'Hot or not' for museum objects!
One quick bit of feedback - when I registered, from what I recall I got taken through to a page that prompted me to 'manage my orders', and there was no obvious way back to the crowdsourcing page. In fact I ended up coming back to your email and clicking the link again, and now all appears fine. Maybe I did something wrong though.
The bit I particularly like is the 'no good image' option on the cropping or zoom - of the few that I have seen so far many only have options where they lose details of some sort or another. The bit that would worry me if I was a curator is that people would tend to choose an image that they find more aesthetically pleasing rather than is the best representation of the object. For example I was just presented with http://collections.vam.ac.uk/crowdsourcing/chooseimage/O99637/ (for the object http://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O99637/cup-and-saucer/) and the image of a single cup and saucer is instinctively the most appealing, whereas that loses the fact that there are two separate items in the accession.
Here's another thought - on all images introduce an image editor option that allows people to choose digital variants of images with different exposure/contrast manipulation, thereby doing some basic enhancements of the screen versions of the images. Of course I can already see one serious flaw in that suggestion, and that is that if the original object was an underexposed black and white photograph, do you really want a manipulated 'enhanced' version appearing on your site. Probably not!
Will contact you again with anything else once I have had a further chance to look at it.
Regards, James
