One of the most helpful descriptions of how to write an essay is not on
a website. I really like the example in Marshall L A guide to learning
independently Open UP 9780335203666. (It examines the theory that the
moon is made of green cheese!)
For a site that covers the main points of essay writing, what about
http://kimberlychapman.com/essay/essay.html ? Not specifically on
nursing but, as Zena says, the principles of essay writing are pretty
universal.
Another site that has useful points to make, though not specifically
connected with nursing is
http://www1.aucegypt.edu/academic/writers/research.htm .
Maybe the nurse isn't aware that the best information is not always
available from a website? Books are still often better!

I'm just wondering why she asked the question, and what lay behind it.
After all, an essay is just that, whether it's written by a nurse or by
an historian. Both require critical thinking.
We have a sheet detailing how references should be set out - but surely
s/he should be discussing essay structure & form (not to mention
content!) with his/her tutor?
About the most sensible of a very shaky bag was this:
http://www.nursing-essays.co.uk/2009/11/nursing-essays/
- but I'd still suggest that the individual should be talking with
his/her teaching staff!
cheers - Zena

Are you planning to share this information with the List? Sounds to be
very useful.

Dear All,
I have been compiling a list of good websites (not the ones where you
have to pay money and they write it for you) on how to write essays (the
enquiry was from a nurse) and wondered if anyone could make any
suggestions please?
With thanks
Janet
