It may be helpful for me to clarify that whilst the National STEM Centre is
based on the University of York campus it is a separate organisation. Our
repository provides teaching and learning resources for schools and
colleges across the 5-19 age group.

eLibrary Co-ordinator
National STEM Centre, York
£25,000 - £30,000
Closing date for applications 1 March 2010
The National STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
Centre was established in 2008 with funding from the Gatsby Charitable
Foundation. At the heart of the Centre is the development of a repository
of online resource collections to support teachers and lecturers of STEM
subjects - our eLibrary.
We are now seeking to recruit an eLibrary Co-ordinator to take a leading
role in the establishment and growth of the repository, thus supporting the
Centre's Director in establishing the National STEM Centre as a support hub
for STEM stakeholders, teachers and lecturers.
Based in newly appointed facilities, co-located with the National Science
Learning Centre on the campus of the University of York, you will join a
committed and professional team in realising the vision of the National
STEM Centre.
Key duties will include the implementation of appropriate workflows and IPR
guidance to ensure effective asset management, liaison with resource
providers, co-ordination of staff working on the eLibrary system, both on
and off site, and oversight of user experiences.
You should have excellent communication, teamwork, project and
organisational skills together with a capacity for hard work and the
ability to work flexibly under pressure to targets. Candidates will need to
be able to demonstrate careful attention to detail in their work, as well
as workload planning and prioritisation experience. You will have
experience of metadata creation and knowledge of current standards, and an
understanding of copyright issues related to repositories. Previous library
experience or work in a service environment would be helpful but is not
essential.
