We have just had a so called quality visit.
Apparently we have a very low A&E referral rate but a higher than average number of asthmatics & angina's. A trawl through the notes suggest this is rubbish. It takes months to train registrars to use READ codes and now we are being judged on the data inputed by A&E SHO's with no training into a useless A&E computer system. Eg conjunctivitis coded as meningitis , musculoskeletal chest pain as angina etc
This does have implications for real budgets in the future. Dr FOSTER, the local HISBI system and many others are full of crap data over which we have little control, trying now to find out how to validate it all.
Kind Regards,
Dr Chris Markwick
