We didnt satisfy the needs of the guy with the gun.
The night before, Chris had 43 calls from the hospital between 8pm and
8am and was fully booked all day, as well as having all the
medications to check from pharmacy and a ward round.
I had categorically stated No more extras, anything that is an
emergency can attend hospital ED but this guy wanted his friend
booking in to get a px for Lipitor as he only had a few days worth
left and his usual GP was fully booked.
The old lady, who wanted her INR result which wasnt back from the lab,
thought if she attended the surgery without an appointment I could
make the result appear.
Pressure from this one made me threaten the Shire with our mutual
resignations unless they bought us some appropriate medical equipment
(INR machine) as they were relying on the equipment we had brought
with us from the UK.
Our medical defence organisation advised Chris to apologise in both cases!
We didnt take their advice, but here in Oz they have a group like GPUK
butits called NatDiv and its bettter than any MDU.
We wouldnt have survived out here without it.
Thanks to Graham!
