Dear all,
You are invited to participate in the IV Post-Graduate Interdisciplinary
Conference at the University of Warwick. This is a student led
conference for all post-graduates in the social and political sciences
and humanities, and provides an exciting opportunity to present your
work in a friendly and supportive environment. A number of postgraduates
will be presenting on issues related to asylum and immigration.
The conference theme concerns ‘rights’. From rights claimed on the
basis of humanity to those relating to a specific group in a specific
setting: are rights so ubiquitous that they are rendered meaningless?
What does it mean to have rights, morally and/or legally? How are they
allocated, by whom, and who is included and excluded? These are some of
the questions that the conference hopes to address.
We are delighted to confirm key note addresses from Prof Lydia Morris
(University of Essex) and Dr Neil Stammers (honorary research fellow for
the 'Justice and Violence Research Centre' at the University of Sussex).
This will be followed by a range of presentations, innovative workshops
and round-table discussions allowing all delegates to reflect upon the
issues of 'rights'.
Conference registration is now open. In the interest of inclusivity, a
fee of £20 is set for all delegates. This fee includes lunch, tea and
coffee throughout the day followed by a wine reception in the evening.
Payment is by cheque only.
