Subject:
Contacts needed with Universities form different European contries for a
possible cooperation on a bicycling-relevant research project
Please dissemninate the enclosed letter to your contacts in the academic
sector. It is about a proposal for a common research project on topics that
are relevant and useful for bicycle advocacy in European cities.
The project would be financed by the European Science Foundation and would
involve at least 4 local groups of researchers from 4 Universities from
different countries and would be implemented during 2011-2013. It focuses on
the impact of urban cycling facilities on the general image and
attractiveness of cities.
The project idea comes from Mr. Cristian Radu Barna, who is a lecturer at
the "Babes-Bolyai" University in Cluj-Napoca and an enthusiastic urban and
recreational bicyclist and also an active member of the local cyclists'
association CCN from Cluj. As I know him personally and I helped in drafting
the project idea, I would like to recommend him and the proposed project and
ask for your help in finding possible partners.
Your sincerely,
Radu Mititean
FBR president
CCN executive director

To whom it may concern
The European Science Foundation, through ECRP VI 2010 financing programme
<http://www.esf.org/index.php?id=394> is supporting multinational
collaborative research in the social sciences in Europe.
I am writing on behalf of a six researchers? team representing Babes-Bolyai
University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. We aim to study the extent to which
developing bicycle infrastructure (through its impact on the environment,
health and urban mobility) improves the attractiveness of the partner cities
(image, qualified labour force, expertise, investments,etc.).
If you are interested in a partnership on the above mentioned subject, I
kindly request you to inform us in order to draw up the application, taking
into consideration your expertise. As the submission deadline is 10 March
2010, we would appreciate receiving your firm answer as soon as possible.
In case you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact
me under the following contact details.
