Dear Colleagues
Here at City College Norwich we are currently investigating ways to integrate
access to streamed online viedo content (off air-recordings on a separate
college built web site) into our library catalogue. The library catalogue is only
available to students via password access.
Is anyone using/planning to use streamed content in this way or linking to
video resources through a catalogue? Do you have practical advice which
could help us?
We are trying to establish best practice so we can treat the streamed
content in a manner suitable to the format, but also so that it is integrated
with the other resources and the collection as a whole.
Any advice on:
• cataloguing the content
• structuring browsing hierarchies and subject tags for the content
• how you have/would approach records for the content
or ANYTHING AT ALL learned from practical experience which could help us
would be much appreciated.
Also any advice on ways to structure the records, search and content on the
streaming website in a way that is visually and functionally encouraging to
educational use for FE students, please chip in!
Many Thanks
