I've registered as a pathway 2 candidate last summer. I agree with Jill
that the portfolio itself should really be the same because it will be
measured by the same criteria. If in any doubt about the Chartership
regulations - I've found CILIP's Quals department very helpful.
I approached the regional CSO because a) my university degree isn't
British (and doesn't sound like a British equivalent), and b) I'd worked
in and for libraries for 10 years and wondered whether I really needed
the 2 year full-time equivalent work experience, esp. since I'm only on
part-time at the moment (which would've meant more than 4! years). The
CSO asked for my CV and a brief accompagnying note/explanation, she got
in touch with Quals and they gave me a) permission to register under
pathway 2, and b) advised to back-date the PPDP to cover the experience
period (all in consultation with my mentor of course).
I'm still in rather early stages (only about to submit the first PPDP)
but just the option of pathway 2 is great - it's THE possibility for me
to finally get some professional recognition! And I would think that
CILIP/the assessors expect to find less straight forward ways of
professional development.
Regards,
Esther
