Dear Researcher,
We are pleased to announce the 1st Oxford Interdisciplinary Desert Research
conference on April 15-16, 2010. The goal is to bring together researchers
from around the UK focused on desert regions, environments and processes
from across academic disciplines. It provides an opportunity to present
research, learn about work in related fields and meet fellow desert
specialists across the wide range of dryland research. Participation can
promote discussion, develop connections and support desert research in the UK.
The conference will take place at the Oxford University’s School of
Geography with dinner at St Cross College.
Academics and postgraduates are encouraged to submit abstracts for
presentations and poster sessions and register for the event. The Call for
Abstracts, registration and details are easily accessed at the conference
website: http://www.geog.ox.ac.uk/news/events/deserts/ For questions and
more information email Troy Sternberg or Lisa Mol at [log in to unmask]
We look forward to your presentations in April!
Best regards,
Dr Troy Sternberg
Conference theme:
Desert and dryland regions of the world are best understood and engaged as
unique and organic entities. This interdisciplinary conference aims to bring
together researchers with interest in desert and dryland people and
environments. The conference goal is to stimulate debate and collaboration
across the multiple academic departments that investigate, monitor, conserve
and work in arid and semi-arid regions. Work that considers diverse
perspectives and bridges disciplines is encouraged. Professors, lecturers,
post docs and post graduates are invited to submit abstracts and attend the
2-day conference.
