Statistician - NS Discovery Biometrics

Development at European and US sites. The Neurosciences Discovery
Biometrics group provides statistical and programming support to projects
within the Neurosciences Centre of Excellence for Drug Discovery.
We have a permanent vacancy for an experienced Statistician to support the
development of new drugs in our Neurosciences portfolio.
As a member of a team of skilled and committed statisticians and
programmers, you will use your statistical and/or programming expertise to
contribute to the design and analysis of Phase I-II clinical trials. Working
closely with physicians, clinical research scientists, and pharmacokineticists,
you will utilise your excellent team-working and planning skills to provide
quality input into international clinical development programmes.
Your statistical expertise and knowledge of drug development will enable you
to influence clinical development strategy as a key member of multi-
disciplinary project teams. You may also research innovative statistical
methodologies for study design and analysis.
Basic qualifications required:
• Excellent consulting and negotiation skills.
• Experience of statistical software packages, including SAS and Unix,
as well as graphics.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills (in English), with
ability to put ideas across clearly to customer groups.
• Demonstrated ability to make an impact within a cross-functional
team.
• MSc (or equivalent) in Statistics or a closely related discipline with
related experience.
• Broad knowledge of statistical methodology and experience of
applying a variety of techniques.
Preferred qualifications:
• Ideally your experience should include preparation of Reporting and
Analysis Plans (RAP), reporting and analysis of clinical trials, study design and
protocol development.
• Experience of Bayesian methodology, use of simulation techniques
and/or adaptive designs is desirable.
• Knowledge of HARP and experience with Splus/R would be an
advantage.
• Familiarity with clinical pharmacology studies and/or the
Neurosciences therapeutic area would be beneficial.
