Royal Statistical Society Official Statistics Section are holding an open
meeting on:
“Recent Developments in Seasonal Adjustment of Official Statistics”
Tuesday 16 February 2010, 5 pm to 7 pm, at the Royal Statistical
Society (Tea available from 4.30 pm)
For many years, the standard program used for the seasonal
adjustment of official statistics was X-11. This has now been
superseded by X-12, and work is under way at both the Office for
National Statistics and the Bank of England to assess X-13. However,
there are alternative methodologies for seasonal adjustment. The
speakers will report on the latest work and consider the possibility of
using a different approach.
Speakers
Nigel Stuttard and Gary Brown, Time Series and Seasonal Adjustment
Branch, Office for National Statistics.
Fida Hussain, Monetary and Financial Statistics Division, Bank of
England.
Andrew Harvey, Professor of Econometrics, University of Cambridge.
