As of October 1, 2010 the Department of Statistics at the Faculty of
Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics of the
Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich offers a position as
*Professor (W3) for Statistics and its Applications in Economics,
Business and Social Sciences*
The new professor is expected to represent the field of statistics in
research and teaching. For students of the bachelor and master programs
in statistics the position is responsible for lectures focusing on
methods and applications in economics, business and social sciences. In
addition, participation in classes for the bachelor and master programs
of economics, business and social sciences is indispensable.
Research shall be focused on modern methods of statistical modeling and
inference, and include successful applications for research grants.
Within the newly-founded interdisciplinary "Center for Empirical
Studies", the professor is expected to play a key role in the
development and application of quantitative methods in economics,
business and social sciences.
Furthermore, support of the "Statistical Consulting Laboratory
(StaBLab)" is highly desired.
The candidate is expected to participate in the Department's general
teaching program and should be able to teach in German within two years.
Prerequisites for the application are a university degree, teaching
skills, a doctoral degree (Ph.D.), and a formal post-doctoral lecture
qualification (Habilitation) or evidence of comparable academic
achievements. Applicants must be younger than 52 years of age at the
time of appointment. Exceptions to this rule may be considered if
outstanding.
