Hi all,
Our last seminar for the year (Friday 11th Dec) will be given by Natasha Hurley-Walker (Cambridge), in Huxley room 503:
Cluster observations with the Arcminute Microkelvin Imager
Abstract:
The Arcminute Microkelvin Imager (AMI) is a dual-array 15-GHZ
interferometer located in Cambridge. It is a purpose-built survey
instrument and is currently performing a 10 square-degree medium-depth
survey for galaxy clusters, using the redshift-independent
Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect to detect the cluster gas. I'll discuss this
survey and put it into context with other current SZ surveys (e.g. by APEX
and SPT) and our future planned surveys. We are also observing samples of
known clusters and I will present some of our latest results, and describe
our data reduction and cluster modeling pipeline.
As with last week we will start at 1pm, and then go to lunch with the speaker. All are welcome.
