Preservation policies in practice
RLUK / BL Preservation Advisory Centre Preservation Learning Programme
Tuesday 19 January 2010
British Library Centre for Conservation
This development day on preservation policies consists of a training morning, and a case studies afternoon. The morning will address the purpose behind preservation policies and how they relate to other organisational policies and plans; the building blocks for a preservation policy; and implementation. It includes exercises to help with designing, writing, reviewing and implementing a policy. The afternoon consists of case studies looking at how people have used policies to help them in improving preservation of collections.
The day is targeted at those responsible for the care of collections, working in large or small organisations. It is run as part of the Preservation Learning Programme jointly sponsored by RLUK and the BL Preservation Advisory Centre.
The day will equip you to:
* Develop / revise your organisation's preservation policy (a pre-requisite for many funding applications)
* Implement a policy in support of building a preservation culture
* Use your policy to help you achieve improvements in collection care.
