Hi jean
Mark is taking the point forward with Dawson and I will talk to the shib guys about recommendations for a fix. Hopefully we can get some traction on this asap.
If anyone else is having problems please do let Mark or myself know on [log in to unmask]
Best wishes
Nicole

Hi Nicloe - I'd really appreciate it if any pressure could be put on Dawsonera to fix this. Our users on campus have been unable
to access the service for over a week now, (with several electronic books on active reading lists and urgently needed),
and we have so far just kept getting the feedback from Dawsonera that clearing caches at our end will solve
the problem. Our local experts (Jethro and Bruce), have a spent a lot of time investigating this for us, and I've
emailed Dawsonera with a summary of the suggested problem area, but so far have had no response.
I understand we are not the only site experiencing the problem, and we think there is an onus on the SP to
be more proactive in co-operating to solve it. It is a costly service and it is not unreasonable to expect a quid pro quo
from them.
Many thanks,
Jean

On a sunday Jon? I was decorating a christmas tree and watching Elf :) I'll summarise the discussions and submit to the shib wiki.

Changing your local proxy.conf could be a useful work-around for your
local users, but you can't fix fix things for people connecting from
networks that you don't control, and ubiquitous access is one of the
points of Shib. I would say this was a bug that needs to be reported to
the SP, and that both those affected and JISC (Nicole, you listening?)
need to try to get them to take it seriously.
Jon.
