Vacancies at the University of Warwick - New posts advertisement

 

 

The University of Warwick Library has the following vacancies. We are advertising these vacancies on the website, jobs.ac.uk , however, to ensure these vacancies are brought to the attention of a wider audience, I would be grateful if you could circulate these vacancies within your teams.

1.     Environment Officer 

 

£19,645 - £22,765 pa

 

 

You will be responsible for managing and maintaining the study environment in the Library conducive to research and learning including the day-to-day operational management of the stewarding team.  You will ensure that the service provided is to specified standards, efficient, cost effective and customer focused.  You will make recommendations for and implement improvements and developments to the service to encourage appropriate, self-managed, user behaviour.

 

You will be educated  A-level standard (or equivalent), with significant relevant experience and have the ability to work effectively and flexibly whether independently or as part of a team. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and deliver excellent customer service in a friendly and professional manner.

The Post

 

The Environment Officer is a new full-time post on Grade 4 within the Library's structure. Reporting to the Customer Services Manager (who heads up the Customer Services team), you will lead and manage the Steward team, actively manage the Library environment by developing and implementing a variety of initiatives to encourage user self management and provide an environment conducive to study. You will work closely with other team leaders within Customer Services team, the Client Services Division and other Library divisions to achieve your objectives. 

 

In addition to delivering day to day environment management, a core component of your role will be to develop and implement as appropriate a range of initiatives and/or adapt a variety of strategies focused on encouraging greater user self-management of the environment, thereby supporting the Steward team in the management of the Library environment. This will be achieved through forging strong links and working closely with colleagues throughout the Library. 

The Environment Officer post includes responsibility for:- 

 

·    maintaining a range of study environments to suit user requirements

·    the effective deployment of the Stewarding Team

·    developing user self-management of the environment

·    working with colleagues to ensure consistency in service delivery and effective use of available resources

 

Working pattern

 

This is a full time vacancy (1fte).  Standard hours of work being 36.5 hours per week, i.e. 9:00-17:30 Monday-Thursday, 9.00-16:30 Friday. The hours for this post are not standard hours. The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly at times to work with the Steward Team Leaders and Stewards during their shifts.

2.     Resources Officer (Acquisitions & Reading Lists) 

 

£19,645 - £22,765 pa

 

You will be responsible for the day to day operation of the procurement of Library print and multimedia materials as well as the ongoing development of the service. You will ensure that the service provided is delivered to specified standards and is efficient, cost effective and customer focussed. 

 

You will be qualified or working towards a qualification in librarianship or information management. Relevant experience in the procurement of library materials operation, as well as in staff management is desirable. Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.

The Post

 

The Resources Officer (Acquisitions & Reading Lists) post is a full time post on Grade 4 within the Library's structure. Situated within the Procurement Team you will report to the Senior Resources Officer  and will lead and manage a team of Library Assistants. You will work closely with the Resources Officer (Serials & E-Resources) and Procurement Manager (who heads up the Procurement Team). 

 

The Resources Officer (Acquisitions & Reading Lists) post includes responsibility for:- 

*	the collection and progression of academic departments reading lists and the efficient, effective and timely ordering of appropriate, relevant and required material (print & multimedia)
*	the supervision and training of the Procurement team (primarily Library Assistants (FA2)) to process reading lists and order relevant and required material.

·          the development and improvement of an efficient and effective 'acquisitions' process (including the overall policy, procedures and adoption of a standardised approach and format(s) for Reading Lists).

*	ensuring all Procurement financial and management information is accurate and timely.
*	handling all complex or specialist orders, including the acquisition of texts in alternative formats to support specific needs users, ensure appropriate supplier, currency and format selected and compliance with any University/Legal/Statutory policies or requirements.

 

Working pattern

 

This is a full time vacancy (1fte).  Standard hours of work 36.5 hours per week, i.e. 9.00 to 17.30 Monday to Thursday and 9.00 to 16.30 Friday.
