Subject: Service Users Experiences of Advocacy
Thank you for circulating to the Disability-Research Jiscmail list my recent enquiry regarding the portrayal of Disabled People in charitable advertisements. I did get one very helpful response off-list and my partner forwarded some other messages to me which were sent to the list in response to my query. I still have not found the info for which I was looking regarding the Snowdrop Appeal so if you come across anything, please let me know.
I am writing this time about some other research I am doing. I have recently been asked by an organisation to undertake a small piece of work which starts with obtaining an overview of the literature recording service user experiences of advocacy. I am trying to find any published research which talks about service user expectations of advocacy provision; gaps in such provision from a service user perspective; and any views about service user involvement in advocacy provision.
I am not keen to reinvent the wheel so, if anyone on the list is aware of any work which has already been done synthesising and/or reviewing research in this area (from a service user perspective) or if anyone has information about research into particular groups of service users' experiences of using various types of advocacy, I would be most interested to hear about it please. I am looking very broadly at this stage, across the UK, into any service area and all types of/approaches towards advocacy.
As I am not on the Disability-Research list, it would be most helpful if people can email me off-list to [log in to unmask]
Many thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
Best wishes,
Linda Laurie
