Dear list members,
We are pleased to announce that in 2010, at York St John University, we will
be launching two community psychology modules as part of the popular MSc in
Professional Health and Social Care Studies. This degree is designed for people
working in health and social care settings, and is intended to be studied part-
time.
The first community psychology module will run in the first six months (further
details attached). Lectures, workshops and seminars are concentrated on one
day per month (with 5 sessions between February and June), with reading and
tasks to be undertaken between meetings. We are keen to recruit 10 – 20
students for the module, and prior study in psychology is not required. The
second module will run in a similar way in the autumn of 2010, should there be
sufficient interest.
Students who have studied the two modules and wish to complete the degree
will be required to undertake a further two compulsory modules, Evidence
Based Practice – The Practicalities and Use of Research Methods for Health
Professionals and complete a dissertation. By undertaking one module per
semester, the full degree would be completed in 3 years. Modules may be
undertaken on their own for CPD purposes, and students interested in
undertaking two modules could be awarded a University Certificate. A
Postgraduate Diploma may be awarded for students who do not wish to
complete a dissertation.
We would appreciate assistance with marketing these new modules to those
who may be interested in studying community psychology in an interactive
and collaborative way, possibly gaining a formal qualification at the same time.
The contact details are on the attached flyer.
Best wishes,
Jacqui
