Messag on behalf of Andy Ryland of Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority
Dear Colleagues,
We have been asked by one of our National Park Authority members for any
information as to how people reach the start of long distance cycle routes. I
think he is concerned that they generate more long distance trips by car to
reach the start.
I was wondering if anyone has any evidence or research on this; my guess is
that it may depend on the route. Also the alternative to cycling in the UK
might be to jet off to Spain etc which would produce considerable more carbon
as compared to driving across the country with your bike to the start of a long
distance cycle trail.
I would be grateful if you could forward any information directly to me.
Many thanks
